In January, a friend and I ventured into the mountains of the Deçani Gorge. The scene captured in this photo is one of the most breathtaking valleys of the Accursed Mountains in Kosovo. Known as Zalli i Rupës. Snow-capped pine trees stand in quiet harmony as a crystal river winds through the heart of the valley. The untouched winter landscape feels almost unreal. Like a scene lifted straight from a movie, where nature speaks in silence and beauty surrounds you from every direction.
Above this valley rises the summit of Rupa. Reaching an elevation of 2,502 meters, standing close to the border between Kosovo and Montenegro. On the opposite side, facing Rupa, lies the Three Border Peak (Tromeda/Trekufiri) 2,366m. A legendary point where hikers from all over the world gather while walking the Peaks of the Balkans Trail. Beyond this iconic summit, nestled deep in the mountains. Stands the Gacaferi Guesthouse, a warm and welcoming haven that offers unforgettable experiences to everyone journeying along this remarkable trail. As a result, during winter, abundant snowfall and powder conditions make this area ideal for unforgettable ski touring adventures.
